Media have reported on Five men charged and sentenced for ‘an illegal prostitution ring using girls as young as 13″
THIS IS NOT PROSTITUTION; THIS IS CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION!
These girls, as young as 13 and 14, will have been targeted, groomed, controlled, coerced and most likely threatened with violence and forced to provide sexual activities for the males personal or financial gratification.
These girls were ‘supplied’ methamphetamine and cannabis as part of that control needed to use them as sex slaves.
The girls were groomed, coerced & manipulated, to create their own ‘sex for sale’ online adverts
The males have been charged under the Prostitution Reform Act 2003, with a maximum penalty of seven years! INSTEAD, they should have been charged with Child Sexual Exploitation under the NZ crimes Act 1961, Section 98aa where any person who sells, buys, barters, rents or hires or in any other way enters into a dealing involving a person under 18 YEARS for the purpose of sexual exploitation of a child can be sentenced up to 14yrs in Jail!
New Zealand is failing our tamariki and rangatahi. This needs to change NOW!
